Origin of MosquiTalk
MosquiTalk was founded in 2023 as an independent information publisher and does not represent any government health department, or other public-health agency. Mainly focused on mosquito-related information, research, prevention, and public-health education. Since its foundation, the publication has expanded into a growing library covering mosquito behavior, seasonality, species, control methods, and mosquito-borne diseases.
The site was built around a simple premise: most mosquito control advice online is recycled from other websites, with little to no direct testing behind it. MosquiTalk exists to change that — every recommendation on this site is grounded in hands-on evaluation, field conditions, and, where the subject requires it, verification by experts and credentialed professionals.
Why We Exist
@Raashid Ansari founded MosquiTalk while living in South Mumbai region of Coastal Maharashtra in India, an area with sustained, high year-round mosquito activity. Managing mosquito exposure there isn’t an abstract topic — it’s a daily, practical concern. That ground-level reality shaped the site’s approach: rather than compiling “top 10” lists from secondary sources, MosquiTalk tests repellents, traps, and outdoor treatment systems directly, under real seasonal conditions, before publishing any recommendation.
MosquiTalk was created to make reliable mosquito-related information easier to find and understand. Much of the information available online is scattered across government publications, scientific studies, health agencies, and local resources. Our goal is to bring relevant information together, explain it clearly, and help readers understand the evidence behind mosquito-related questions.
MosquiTalk covers:
- Mosquito species and identification
- Mosquito seasonality and geographic patterns
- Mosquito-borne diseases
- Mosquito preventionand control
- US and international mosquito statistics
- Mosquito surveillance and disease trends
- Backyard mosquito prevention and control
- Scientific research on mosquito behavior and ecology
- Mosquito-related information for pets and animals
- Climate and environmental factors affecting mosquitoes
How Our Content Is Created?
Every article on MosquiTalk follows a structured process:
- Research — Content begins with research into primary, evidence-based sources, including peer-reviewed entomological studies and public health bodies such as the WHO, CDC, and other related regional/national authorities.
- Direct testing — For product and method-based content (repellents, traps, yard treatments), claims are based on direct testing by our founder under real-world conditions, not manufacturer claims or secondhand reviews.
- Expert consultation — For technical or public-health topics beyond the scope of direct testing, we consult with entomologists and pest management professionals to verify accuracy.
- Medical review — All content relating to mosquito-borne diseases — including transmission, symptoms, risk factors, and treatment information — is reviewed by a licensed medical professional before publication.
(Interested medical professionals, researchers and pest management experts are requested to join us as expert reviewers and contributors). - Ongoing updates — Articles are periodically reviewed and updated to reflect new research findings, product changes, or updated public health guidance. Each piece of content displays its most recent last update date.
Our full editorial standards are detailed on our Editorial Policy page.
